PLAYFUL DOLPHINS

It was on Wednesday 22nd of October I was up at the Stonehaven Golf Club where I do all my land base surveys from when weather conditions are not at their best, when I hope to get out on the tranquility as a last minute and unplanned and round about 10:30 am. the sea had been impossible to get out to sea for the past few weeks.

Around mid day we set off from the harbor bay, I had doubt in my mind then as the winds was building up and I did not think we would get very far.

Plus I had a free lance reporter and photographer on the trip, but everything had been forgotten as soon as I spotted our friends the BND.

The time was 12:04am and we were still in the bay 10 bottlenose dolphins coming towards the boat, did not pay us much attention for the first 10 min's as we followed them.

But I said to the passengers "here they come" heading towards us then from then on for an 1hr and 10 minutes the play around the boat they were certainly in a playful mood.

This includes bow riding, some breaching, swimming across the bow of the boat many times even rolling on their side and as you can see this cheeky dolphin swimming on the (left bottom picture)

eventually the BND drop back and their attention was drawn towards feed'

After all that hard day playing around must have given them a big appetite, so we left them with their well deserve reward.
