SDRT - EDUCATION
Stonehaven Dolphin Research Trust will organize school, community local public visits for awareness to inform the community as well as specialist interest workshops to actively involve members of the public amongst all communities in the North East of Scotland and beyond in observation and data collection, and to submit this information to appropriate agencies so that it can be recorded and made available for both scientific and public use.
PROJECTS, ACTIVTIES
Stonehaven Dolphin Research Trust main objectives is to monitor the population and distribution of all cetaceans (Dolphins Whales and Porpoise) in the Aberdeen Stonehaven and South area of the North east Scotland.
This involves education in the raising of public awareness for the encouragement and participation from the Community's, vital research such as land as well as sea based surveys, to examine and behavior of cetaceans in these local waters.
Sea surveys consist of ID photographic
of each individual animal, to research their behavior patterns and their changing environment.
All data collected will be passed on to the community for the education to all of the North East Scotland this includes schools colleges universities in the form of presentations or data passed on to all marine and coastal wildlife organizations for scientific research.
AIMS
Stonehaven Dolphin Research Trust aims are to raise funds not only for research also purchases of a sea vessel large enough for coastal tours in the stonehaven and surrounding areas for the public and the communities, also for education of our coastal shoreline, including all marine wild life.
This includes educational tours, work shops for small groups of the community while onboard the vessel involving young groups from the educational system.
This method will not only raise awareness and understanding to marine wild life and environmental issues, also to encourage the community to work alone side Stonehaven Dolphin Research Trust and other organizations, but to help safe guard the environment and preservation for the cetaceans also for all the marine wild life for future generations to come through education.
